NYU Langone Unveils $60M Women's Health Center in Manhattan
NYU Langone's new $60 million facility offers comprehensive women's healthcare, aiming to revolutionize holistic care services across all life stages.

NYU Langone Health has introduced a groundbreaking $60 million women's health center in Midtown Manhattan, aiming to transform the landscape of women's healthcare. Situated in the East 53rd Street Ambulatory Care Center and named the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative, the facility will provide holistic and comprehensive healthcare services for women at various life stages.
This ambitious project is funded primarily by a $50 million donation from philanthropists Allison and Roberto Mignone, supplemented by a $10 million contribution from philanthropist Ken Griffin. The initiative aims to bridge longstanding gaps in women's health by offering services across 20 clinical specialties, addressing preventive screenings, maternity care, menopause, and mental health, among others.
Personal Inspiration Drives Vision
The initiative's vision is notably influenced by Allison Mignone's personal experience with triple-negative breast cancer. Her treatment journey at NYU Langone underscored the critical need for integrated and personalized care, motivating her to ensure that all women, regardless of their background, can access high-quality care.
Allison expressed that many women lack the network of excellent doctors she was fortunate to have. This realization fueled her drive to create a unified health center offering expert care, research, and education under one roof.
Broad Range of Services
The Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative is designed to support women's health needs throughout their lives. With over 125 expert clinicians on staff, the center covers a variety of specialties:
Preventive Health & Screenings: Includes annual exams, cancer screenings, and other essential checkups.
Fertility & Reproductive Medicine: Provides advanced treatments in collaboration with NYU Langone’s Fertility Center.
Pregnancy & High-Risk Obstetrics: Offers personalized care for complex pregnancies, with same-day procedures available.
Focus on Healthful Aging
A significant element of the initiative is the Griffin Healthspan and Vitality Center, located on the collaborative's second floor. This facility focuses on promoting wellness throughout the aging process, offering services in mental health, stress management, nutrition, and fitness tailored for older women.
Additionally, the center supports caregivers and women experiencing burnout or recovering from trauma, highlighting a holistic approach to long-term well-being.
Research and Educational Hub
The collaborative also serves as a leading center for women's health research and education. It plans to conduct clinical trials for high-risk patients and utilize cutting-edge diagnostics. Moreover, the facility will host new academic courses aimed at future medical professionals specializing in women’s health.
The goal is to incorporate the latest scientific advancements in treatment approaches that are specifically tailored to women's unique health needs—a historically underrepresented area in medical research.
The opening of the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative represents a pivotal shift in urban women’s healthcare. By integrating multiple disciplines, maintaining state-of-the-art facilities, and adopting a patient-focused philosophy, NYU Langone sets a new standard for accessible, coordinated women's healthcare.
This initiative reflects a broader national movement to systematically address the distinct biological, psychological, and social healthcare needs of women, all within a singular, coordinated framework.
